Tsavo's "brand recognition" came after the story about "The man eaters of Tsavo", portrayed in the movie Ghost and Darkness played by Val Kilmer and Michael Douglas, displaying the abundance of fierce lions. Situated in Tsavo West National Park in Kenya, Kilaguni Serena Safari Lodge was the first lodge to be built in a Kenyan National Park and was officially opened in 1962 by his Royal Highness.
Tsavo West National Park the second largest park in Kenya is home to 61 species of large mammals including large carnivores, elephant and rhino. In addition to mammals the park has a record 600species of birds.
With 56 Guestrooms, Kilaguni Serena commands magnificent views second to none, extending out over some of the most rugged scenery in this 12,000km2 park with chyulu Hills and the snowy Dome of Mt. Kilimanjaro as perfect backdrops.
